Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! I’m a football fanatic, love it, get a little sad in February when it’s all over. But today is the big day, so I’ll hold my tears in until tomorrow. I actually made salsa and s’mores bars for the party I’m going to this evening, but I will post them later.
I was busy cooking up a storm yesterday and now you get to benefit 🙂 Who doesn’t like pulled pork BBQ? If you don’t, don’t tell me about it, because you are wrong. What is not to like!? Meat, bread, yummy sauce, period. Ok, moving on. This is the easiest pork BBQ recipe you’ll ever find. I made it for our supper last night (I’m from rural PA, I say supper). This is also a crock pot meal which makes it even more wonderful. I’m always trying to find more crock pot meals. Those of you who have kids know, that 5pm is the WORST time to make dinner!
Here we go:
Throw a pork loin (roast, shoulder, whatever ya got) in your crock pot.
Add a cup of beef broth. It can be from a can or from bouillon, or if you are really fancy, homemade beef stock. Don’t worry, mine is from beef bouillon granules.
Turn your crock pot on low. I like to give it a good long time to cook so that the meat just falls apart. It makes it so tender and moist and really easy to shred. I put mine in around 8:30am and shredded it up around 4pm or so.
After it has cooked a nice long time, pull the meat out and set it on a plate. If it looks like this, you will know it’s done and ready to pull apart.
Using two forks, pull the meat apart. It really doesn’t take that long. Dump it back in the crock pot (remove broth first) and pour in a bottle of BBQ sauce. You can use your favorite kind. I used 28 ounces of honey BBQ flavor from Sweet Baby Ray’s – that’s a really yummy brand if you are looking for some. They have several delicious flavors.
Mix it all together and this is what you have….I was drooling already:
I turned the crock pot back on to low and let it all sit there until we were ready to eat, about 60-90 minutes. Here is your finished product:
oh.yeah.
SUCH an easy meal, but also SO delicious. That’s my kind of meal.
Easy Pulled Pork BBQ
1 pork loin, shoulder, roast etc
1 28oz bottle of BBQ sauce
1 cup beef broth
Place pork in crock pot and add beef broth. Turn crock pot on to low and cook for about 8 hours. Meat should be very tender and easily pulled apart with a fork. Remove meat from crock pot and discard broth. Shred pork with 2 forks and place back in crock pot. Pour BBQ sauce over pork and stir until well mixed. Heat on low until warmed through or until ready to serve. Serves 6-8 people. (note: this could be gluten free with a gluten free sauce)
This looks super familiar, one of my favorites too! 🙂
This loos awesome and yummy!
Meant to say “looks” yummy! Sorry…
Have a roast in the crockpot that I intend to make in to this recipe — well, aside from the bottled barbecue sauce since most are not gf. 🙂
yay! hope you enjoy 🙂
